Background

My eCoach is a division of Computer Strategies, LLC and was started in 1998 by Barbara Bray, educational consultant and professional developer, out of a need to extend face-to-face coaching. At first, it was because Barbara and four of her coaches were carrying loads of binders back and forth to forty-nine schools. We could not keep up with all of the materials so we had to bring everything with us.
Remember, this was before blogs or wikis and flash drives.
We worked with the district offices and several online companies to design an online content management site. In each case, it would take way too long to build or was not feasible with existing tools, so we went ahead and created eCoach. My eCoach has gone through many versions with the first version being designed around Inquiry Leading to Understanding (ILU) with guidance from Leilani Carbonell-Pedroni who used this process for her Master’s Thesis in Instructional Technology. In 2003, we launched My eCoach nationally at the NETS conference in Seattle, WA. Each update and new tool we added to eCoach has revolutionized how teachers work together. We realized that a step-by-step process like the ILU builder was too limiting so that was discontinued with other builders. Now we use the Universal builder that is very flexible and customizable. We are very excited about the direction of eCoach and how it fits with any type of learning be it individually or with a large organization.
Mission

To provide an online learning environment that gives all learners the tools and resources they need to meet their learning goals.

"Wow! I'm so impressed with the eCoach set-up. It made our 3 day principal training so much easier. The interface for the participants demonstrated how members of an online community could collaborate in a seamless fashion. All the participants are very excited about the continual support they will receive through their membership in eCoach. "
