Just read Will Richardson’s blog post "Unlearning Curve" and the 10 things to unlearn. I truncated his list so please go to his blog to read his full list. Some things from his list that you might want to think about: We need to unlearn
that we are the sole content experts in the classroom...
the premise that we know more than our kids...
that every student needs to learn the same content and at the same pace..
our fear of putting ourselves and our students “out there” ...
that we continually have to block and filter access to the sites and experiences they need our help to navigate.
the premise that real change can happen just by rethinking what happens inside the school walls and understand that education is now a community undertaking on many different levels.
Dean Shareski asks in his blog "How selfish are you?" Question he brings up: is there really a difference between personal and professional learning? We need to take care of ourselves. Take 15 minutes each day for our own learning, writes Carolyn Foote in her blog Not So Distant Future.
How can you spend 15 minutes each day for your own learning?
Are you willing to unlearn so you can learn new things?

Dear Barbara,
How true! The most wonderful thing about being a teacher is learning from my students. I think this is why I keep coming back to the classroom. Thank you for sharing these valuable resources that echo the importance of collaboration in learning.
