Summary
Students will research various areas related to how Texas as well as the United States would be different if Texas had never given up its independence. In doing so the students will not only look at economics issues and cultural patterns but also at how the expansion in the Southwest might have taken place.

Rationale
Student tend to take an approach that things in the past could not have occurred differently. Through this project the students will be able to see that the events in the past could have resulted in their living in a new lifstyle under a differnt government in a different county instead of the condition they find themselves in now.
