Summary This project explores the significant people, the revolutionary events, and the important documents of the 18th century which compelled thirteen colonies to declare independence from their mother country, Great Britain.
Rationale The American Revolution created the smorgasbord of culture that is in existence in the United States today. This project is significant because it is the catalyst for researching the roles of our founding fathers, their heroic feats, and the importance of our historical documents. This project meets the needs of our students by increasing and clarifying their knowledge through the organization and interpretation of databases, graphs, charts, timelines, and maps; it meets curricular goals and the TEKS standards through summarization inferencing, sequencing, drawing conclusions, and using appropriate vocabulary for the time period. The students will end this project with an oral/visual presentation in a report to their classmates.
