Overview

Grade Levels: 11, 12

Curriculum Areas:
Focus: English/Language Arts
Secondary: Fine Arts

Topic:
English

Theme:
self-exploration

Duration:
one semester--20 weeks
Summary
This is a semester-long investigation of how we are defined, by ourselves and others. Students will journal, interview family members, read scientific articles as well as essays and biographies, and create responses in a number of different media, from writing to film.

Rationale
Most adolescents feel they are the center of the universe, and are hungry for feedback and ways to present themselves to the world. The subject of SELF becomes an approach for all kinds of writing, reading, and creating within the standards.
