Summary Everyday we buy drinks that come in plastic bottles. What happens to those bottles after we are done with them? Where do they go?
Our science classes will be tracking plastic bottles bought and used on our school campus. We will track how many we use in a week and determine where they go after we are done with them. We will be using the scientific process for this experiment and our data analysis will include graphs using excel to determine how many bottles we use during a school week and what happens to them when we are done with them.
Rationale The purpose of this project is to show students how their own waste habits can effect the environment they live in now and in the future.
The goal is to give them the understanding and knowledge to be able to make the right decisions about what they use and what they do with it when they are done, and to help them understand how recycling and waste management can help to keep make their own home, communities and cities a better place to live.
In the process of this experiment students will also gain knowledge in how to work with data and make graphs using excel that will help them to interpret scientific information.
