Introduction

This web resource list contains some resource links that may prove useful in working with ESL students. This resource list was found in the book, "Teaching with the Internet K-12: New Literacies for New Times" 4th edition textbook by Donald J. Leu, Deborah Diadium Leu and Julie Coiro. If you need more specifics, please consult the textbook.

    •Activities for ESL Students
A great site from the Internet TESl Journal. This site contains links to exercises and quizzes. It includes links to bilingual puzzles in several languages.
    •Dave Sperling's ESL Cafe
This is recommended as a good site for teachers and older students. It is ranked among the most popular ESL sites, however, it does contain commercial links. It does contain bulletin boards and chat as well as other activities and resources.
    •ESL Independent Study Lab
Site is organized by ability levels and contains many links to activities and games.
    •E.L. Easton: Materials for Teaching English
Another excellent directory with ESL links for a variety of levels and purposes, as well as to other related sites such as flags of the world.
    •IATEFL Young Learners Special Interest Group
Tihs site is for teachers from the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language Learners according to age: very young, primary, and secondary.
    •Interesting Things for ESL Students
A variety of games, puzzles, proverbs, and other enjoyable ways to practice English.
    •OWL ESL Resources, Handouts and Exercises
Site is for middle and high school students from the online Writing Center at Purdue University.

A non-commercial ESL Directory with links for teachers and students.

Offers list of sites where ESL students have the opportunity to practice English.
    •The University of Victoria's English Language Centre Study Zone
This site offers a variety of activities and explanations on grammar and reading.
