This supplemental unit was developed as part of the Schools of California Online Resources for Educators (SCORE) Project, funded by the California Technology Assistance Program (CTAP).
    •The ABC's of Conservation
With this class iMovie project, students gain a deeper understanding of conservation as well as the letters and sounds of the alphabet. The project appeals to visual and auditory learners as it allows them to learn more about conservation by actively participating in making a movie.
    •We Can Dance
What better way to learn dance and creative movement terms than to create a video that demonstrates them? Balance, Burst, Flex, Gallop, Jump, Leap, Stretch, Twirl, Wiggle, Bent, Round, Tilted, and Twisted. At first, these terms may be foreign to kindergarteners as well as hearing-impaired students. But once they complete this iMovie and iDVD project, the terms all become clear to both the students who made the video and their peers.
Kindergarten Math
    •A Counting Photo Book
In this project, students use iPhoto to create their own counting books. After reading several counting books, the class comes up with a list of objects that can illustrate each number to 10. Working in pairs or individually, students use a digital camera to take photos of sets of objects to use in their book. Students import their photos into iPhoto and create a counting photo book with text identifying the numerals and the objects.
    •Our Pattern Book
In this project, kindergartners demonstrate their understanding of patterns and create patterns to share with others. Each student selects a different set of materials to create a pattern. Digital photographs are taken of each student and his or her pattern. The photos are imported into iPhoto and the teacher creates one page for each student with a picture of the student and his or her pattern. Each student adds text to the page describing the pattern, including what shapes it is made of and what repeats. The book is printed and used as a resource in the classroom.
Kindergarten Science
•Kindergarten Takes a Trip to the Zoo
