HENRY FLAGLER Flagler knew how to spot a good business opportunity. He visited Florida in 1883 and even though he enjoyed his stay he realized it was hard to get there. He took the opportunity to start a business. He was an entrepreneur. He began building hotels and railroads in Florida so people would visit and he make travel easy. His first hotel was the Ponce de Leon in St.Augistine with more than 500 rooms.. The hotel cost more than $2,000,000. Over the next years he built many more hotels along the coast of Florida.
