Change Over Time: Stop Motion Movies
How can we observe change over time with pictures?
Please see the step-by-step tutorials (http://userwww.sfsu.edu/~sgilson/stopmotionsite/index.html) for this project. This is a project to integrate technology into the science curriculum; however, the science subject area is flexible.

Change Over Time: Stop Motion Movies
integrates (and requires access to) several technology components and is designed for Mac computers.  The project can be done on PC computers, but will need to be adapted.  The following technologies are integrated in this project:
  • digital still cameras, with connecting capabilities to the computer
  • Mac computers running minimum OS 10.1
  • iPhoto software
  • iMovie software
Change Over Time: Stop Motion Movies involves taking digital photos of a science-based change over time (such as weather, plants growth or decomposition,) and then using digital video editing to create "stop motion" movies of this change.  The project can also focus on the subject area of motion as change over time. Change Over Time: Stop Motion Movies requires the following prerequisite skills for teachers and students:
  • Proficiency in digital photography
  • Proficiency in iPhoto software
  • Proficiency in iMovie software
