An important skill to have when reading is the ability to retell the story, but in shorter form. Being able to summarize literature well is a sign of strong reading comprehension. A summary includes only the main points of the piece that was read and will be significantly shorter than the original. Use the chart below to help you summarize each short story as you read it. Your final summary will be in paragraph form. We will first practice using a familiar story.
