She works in a mid-sized elementary school where she tries to make the library the hub of her school by creating a comfortable inviting place that both students and staff like to be. Donna was introduced to My eCoach via a science grant for a collaboration project in 2006. She was so intrigued with the capabilities My eCoach had to offer to create teacher and student friendly websites that she incorporated My eCoach into all areas of her curriculum.

Oakland Unified School District is an urban district that is trying everything they can to stop students from dropping out. Madison Middle School is in East Oakland with a determined principal who wants to make a difference in their children’s lives.

Teachers were working hard and test scores were improving, but students were not motivated to learn. The lessons needed to be more rigorous and engaging. The teacher turnover rate was too high. Individuals and groups are regularly using My eCoach, with many users returning to realize the benefits of their lifetime memberships. Below are some exciting projects currently happening in My eCoach:

You are creating a website, lesson, or project with My eCoach’s Universal Builder and you need help. If you are part of a team and have an eCoach, you can now request feedback on each and any page you are working on.

You get a pop-up with your eCoach(es). Choose one and send request for help. All communication between you and your eCoach is private and confidential. Only you and your eCoaches can see your comments and the eCoach replies.

When you receive a comment, you get a message in My eCoach and an email notification if you set that up in your settings. You can also see a comment icon next ...   more...

Ongoing Programs and Projects

San Diego County Office of Education’s Leadership Services continues to provide AB 430 training for California principals. Melissa Hunt, Director, with the support of eCoaches Cynthia Sistek-Chandler and Ward Smith, set up one leadership team for over 400 principals who have participated in the training.


Stanford University’s Bay Area Foreign Language Program (BAFLP) with support from their eCoach Marcelo Leal has set up five more teams including BAFLP Leaders, an ELD Strand, and Mandarin Strand. Example project from Kathleen Rooney:
