A Trip across the Corinth Canal
By Janice Friesen    July 9, 2007 -- 05:13 AM

First of all here are the pictures of the columns.  I have been reading a bit about the different types of columns and reasons for them, but I have other things to tell you, so let me know if you want more on this topic.

Yesterday I swam in the ocean again and had some very interesting experiences.  But first I was stuck in a traffic jam. It was an interesting traffic jam because we were crossing the Corinth Canal

(Up Close and Personal from archived blog) and the bridge at one end of the canal does a very interesting thing to allow both boats and cars to pass.  It sinks!

When we arrived the bridge was submerged and two boats went out of the canal and then two boats went into the canal.  There is only space for one direction of traffic at a time.

Then the road lifted out of the water and we were able to drive across!

We were going to Peracora which is an archaeological site, a light house and also a wonderful beach.

We walked up to the light house first and took this picture of Acrocorinth (the mountain behind Corinth)  opposite side of the bay.

Then we swam and finally we went and ate fish
(I am still avoiding octopus)
and watched the sun set and the lights go on to light up Acrocorinth.

I donít really like the lights. Because of the darkness below and above it looks like some Ogreís feet floating above Corinth.

Tomorrow we begin myths in preparation for an opera.  Donít miss it!

About the string of characters.  This just proves that you are human and not a machine trying to spam the blog!

I have a question about crossing the bridge. How fun to be there to see this happen. If the road is underwater, how does even one direction of cars get across?

I like your description about the ogres feet (I see lighted up toenails). I wonder if anyone can make a story up about it.

P.S. do you know why we have to copy a string of characters in order to post a comment? Not a problem, I am just curious.
