Summary
Students assume the role of zookeepers at the New York City Zoo in the year 2038. They are given the task of finding new animals to bring to the zoo.

Students will research animals that could be displayed at the zoo using printed materials, online materials, and any other available resources.

They will design a habitat using multimedia or a three-dimensional model to present their findings and argue for their animal choice.

Rationale
This project links to the animal units in the Third Grade Houghton Mifflin Reading Series, as well as to California Life Science standards for Third Grade. It spans science, language arts, art, and technology, and allows students to delve into a subject of their choice.
