My Philosophy
My philosophy is that learning needs to be something a student wants to do. I try to have many hands-on experiences and bring the real world into the classroom as much as possible. Teaching is easiest when the students are interested in the material being presented. My classroom is not always fun, but I try to provide enough interesting material to keep the students engaged.
My Community
Coleman County, population 9,710. The city of Coleman, located 54 miles southeast of Abilene and 74 miles south of San Angelo has a population 5,140 and is the county seat. We are known by people as the "Land of the Lakes", and attract hunters and fisherman from all over Texas and accross the United States. We have rich grasslands which have produced outstanding herds of commercial cattle, horses, sheep, hogs, and goats. We have new school facilities and over 22 churches in our area. We have an annual Festival of the dove known as the "Fiesta De la Paloma" in October and many people drive from all over to see our PRCA rodeo held in the last week of June. We are in the process of building a state of the art Coleman County Youth Center which will provide a place for youth activities and community events.
My Environment
Coleman Junior High has approximately 250 students. We have 30 staff members to serve our students. Our district is over 60% economically disadvantaged. We offer GT and advanced classes. We strive to keep the technology on our campus up to date to provide the students and instructors the tools they need to succeed in this ever changing technological world.
My Roles and Responsibilities
I teach 8th grade science and am a mentor to the 8th grade social studies teachers. I have about 80 students in five classes. Two classes are advanced. I serve as the 8th grade science UIL coach.

My Philosophy
My goal is to provide a positive place for ALL students to come and learn about technology, no matter what skills or knowledge they come in with. I provide the motivation, information, and state of the art equipment. Then what they choose to learn is up to them....but all students can learn, it is my job to teach them, no matter what it takes.

My Roles and Responsibilities
I currently teach a Computer Applications class to seventh graders. I have one semester and teach the basics in Keyboarding, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Data Bases, and Web Page software. I co-sponsor the Junior High Yearbook and teach a sixth grade keyboarding class as an elective to the students who are not in band. I also help the technology coordinator with administrative duties as well as assisting teachers with various technology applications such as email, gradespeed, scanning, cameras, and other activities and problems as they arise.
