My Philosophy I believe that as an educator students learn best when they answer their own questions. I believe that is my job to guide them to find the answers, ask more questions, draw conclusions, and then ask now what? Student need to know how to find information and problem solve. They are no longer the receivers of knowledge, but they are an active part of the learning.
My Community I live in a community that borders St. Louis City. It is a small town in a big city. We have lots of neighborhood parks, a pool, and recreation center.
My Environment I work with several schools in a metropolitian area.
My Roles and Responsibilities
Every year my responsibilities change. I work for a grant funded program and provide professional development and classroom coaching to teachers as they transform their classrooms into an eMINTS classroom. We work to integrate their current curriculum into our instructional model which is based aroudn the following four catagories-Inquiry Based Learning, Powered By Technology, High Quality Lesson Design, and Community of Learners.
My Philosophy Everyone can learn. Some learn in different ways. A great teacher will find the best way a student learns and differentiate teaching.
My Community My community is the Southwest corner of Missouri. We are surrounded by the Ozark Mountains with small areas of the Mark Twain National Forest scattered throughout. I live in Carthage, Missouri which is well known for the Precious Moments company and our beautiful Maple trees.
My Philosophy It is my belief that all students have a curious nature and innate ability to learn. The combination of experiences, opportunities and a safe environment, creates the potential of discovery. Education is ever changing as students differ. Our goal is simple. We strive to create learning communities that harbor creative efforts and tools that enable students to establish problem-solving skills to prepare them for success.
My Community I am blessed to be located in the Bootheel region of Missouri. The flora and fauna is awesome and quite abundant during the warm seasons. There is a vast amount of wildlife. The Mingo Refuge Center is near by and hosts some of the native swamplands of our great state. The citizens native to this region belong to one of the last two cultures in the United States described as a ’self-sufficient’ society. I have worked with the National eMINTS Center in Missouri where we encompass technology as a learning tool. The work I do with teachers allows the use of modern technological support that aligns to the overwhelming resources for student enrichment. This marriage of resources and technology promotes ’hands-on’ experiences for students.
My Environment In Poplar Bluff, I work with teachers at all levels, thus I learn a lot! I host workshops on specific learning tools and pedagogy. I help teachers build inquiry lessons and visit their classroom to help implement or model. I love my job and the teachers always welcome me to their environment. There are 9 buildings in the district, so I do have to manage my schedule, and I work with teachers in k-12 and Special Needs children.
My Roles and Responsibilities My official title is Instructional Technology Coach. I want to be their coach and cheer them onward! Amazing how teachers don't believe I give them all my information. They have this idea that ideas are protected and love it when I find them resources and activities. It is like I have given them 'the secret'! :-)
