How can I best provide online support for my teachers?

Linda Ullah, M.A., M. Ed. is a semi-retired educator. She currently works part time as a Support Coach for the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation’s 1:1 Initiative, and as an online instructor for Foothill College’s Krause Center for Innovation teaching Integrating 21st Century Skills into the Classroom, Web 2.0 Open Education Resources, and Cyberethics and Internet Child Safety.. She also leads a monthy discussion on Global Project Based Learning in Tapped In.

 

She has been a School Development Coach for the New Tech Network.  She worked with  New Tech High Schools in North Carolina and Louisiana, helping them to use project based learning as their primary instructional strategy.  She has also taught online courses for Foothill College in Los Altos, CA and Classroom Connect’s Connected University.  She was one of the  co-authors for  the curriculum for the Oracle Education Foundation’s Project Based Learning Institute and co-taught that institute. 

Prior to joining the New Tech Network, she was Teacher in Residence at Foothill College’s
Krause Center for Innovation (KCI) where she wrote curriculum for face to face and online courses and helped coordinate the Learning in New Media Classrooms) program. She was also the director of the Center’s Earn While Your Learn Technology/Project Based Learning Institute for teachers and co-authored the curriculum for the Institute.  This program is now called the Merit Program.  While at the KCI she worked with the California Media and Multimedia Faire to have the KCI be both a judging site and an award location.

During the late 1990s she was a Technology Learning Coordinator for the former Challenge 2000 Multimedia Project, a Federal Technology Challenge Grant that focused on project based learning with multimedia. Linda’s background includes teaching a variety of K-12 classes including special education, gifted and talented and Title 1 programs.  She served as a mentor teacher in the area of thematic planning-integrated instruction and as a summer school principal. Linda has, also taught the Emerging Technology course for graduate students at San Jose State University and the University of Don Bosco in El Salvador.

 

Linda was a S.C.O.R.E. (Schools of California Online Resources for Educators) Fellow and a member of the Leadership Team and a curriculum developer and trainer for the Santa Clara County Office of Education’s Internet Institutes where she co-authoed  the Tier 2: Project Based Learning Supported by Multimedia Summer Institute Curriculum and was lead trainer for the institute  She also a co-authored the Santa County Office of Education’s Tier 3 Internet Institute: Curriculum Development for Online Learning. In addition she was a facilitator for the San Jose State University and Santa Clara County Office of Education Leadership for Learning with Technology collaboration. 


She has been a presenter as several education and  technology related conferences both in the U.S. and in Japan. 


Linda holds a M.Ed in Special Education from the University of Cincinnati and a M. A. in Instructional Technology from San Jose State University. She is the recipient of the Harold H. Hailer Award in Instructional Technology and the SJSU Gold Award for the College of Education. She received a BA in Social Studies with a minor in English from Marietta College. She also studied art history in Bergamo, Italy through Ohio University’s University Abroad program.


Linda has served on several educational boards. She is the former president of the Morgan Hill Unified School District’s  Board of Trustees. She has served Teachers International Exchange Board, and the IISME (Industry Initiatives for Science and Math Education Educational Committee and as president of the Charter School of Morgan Hill  Board.  She has also served on the Knowledge Context  Board and on the advisory committee for the Stanford University Teacher Education Program (STEP).
