Overview: This inquiry-based project, "Watering it down", will allow fifth-graders to explore all about water. They will learn that water is essential for the life of every organism on our planet through a variety of research, science experiments, lab write-ups, and oral presentations.
Rationale: Students will be given the opportunity to learn and identify some of the issues of today’s water supply and how to responsibly conserve water on Earth. As human beings, we cannot live without water and must be aware of this important, precious resource we often take for granted. It is important for children to grow into responsible individuals who can make logical decisions that will result in a sustainable water supply for the future. Duration: About two weeks
