Students are to research and learn about a famous artist.  They will write a biographical report, duplicate a piece of artwork their artist created and give an oral presentation to the class.  Students will gain an understanding of how art reflects societies cultural, political, and everyday life from different time periods.

The activity of recreating a famous work of art allows students to draw upon their own creative talents, self expression, and an appreciation of how powerful art can be.
