The International Day of Peace is celebrated on September 21st., but many places tend to have a "Peace Week" instead of just a day. Some schools tend to have a "Peace Week" in January- when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday is observed.
At school the art teacher had students decorate peace doves which were strung together and displayed in the main hallway.
The music teacher taught songs about peace and the 4th and 5th grade chorus sang a song at the Peace Rally.
Announcements were made daily with messages of Peace and reminders of the following day’s theme.
Teachers were provided with a list of ideas and activities they could use in their classrooms. (see document tab)
