My PhilosophyCuriosity is InnateI believe that deep within the mind of every student exists an innate curiosity to understand the world around and within him. A teacher’s role is to ignite each individual’s innate curiosity and to guide each student as he attempts to find satisfying answers to his own questions. In this modern age, technology allows the curious mind of a student to discover answers to questions with much less effort than ever before. Technology can even shape the type of questions that students seek to answer. Educational TechnologyEducational techlology is the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using, and managing appropriate technological processes and resources. - Alan Januszewski (2008)
My Community I currently live in a suburb of Fresno, California and teach Earth Science for McLane High School. I've only been at McLane for one year. Prior to teaching Earth Science, I taught Physics, Physiology and Biology at Portage Lakes Career Center in Green, Ohio (near Akron). I'll be starting my 7th year of teaching in the Fall.
My EnvironmentTeenagers 24/7I live with my two teenagers: Kevin (age 14) and Megan (age 13). I also have two teenage sons, Ryan (age 19) and Jason (age 18) who live in Ohio. This summer, I'm teaching two high school Earth Science summer school classes. My life is all teenagers! Luckily, I like teenagers. They always make me laugh! |
