Reading |
Reading is Is an extremely important part of our day. We have a 90 minute reading block that will include mini-lessons, spelling and vocabulary practice, independent reading time, book talking/sharing, and teacher conferencing. In order to become a better reader, students must read, read, and read some more. Students should have two books in their book baggie at all times. One is a specific reading book, and the other is a “back-up” book. Their reading homework is to read 20-30 minutes each night and they should be reading from one of these books primarily. They may also have another book that they may have checked out from the media center, however, they should not try to juggle too many books at one time. Our reading series is Storytown and can be accessed on line. I encourage students to read and review the weekly stories for the tests.
