Long after the toys of childhood are put away, the gift of music still remains...
Aloha mai kakou! . . . Wilkommen! . . . Irasshaimase! . . .Bienvenue! to the Elementary Music Webpage!

Aloha! I’m Diane Koshi, the Music Specialist at Mid-Pacific Institute, and founder and director of the Mid-Pacific Institute Choir. I’ve been involved in the music industry and music education of Hawai’i for thirty years. I served as a Choral Director with the Hawai’i Youth Opera Chorus for twenty years where I prepared children’s choruses for Hawaii Opera Theater’s mainstage productions.  I was the director of choirs and chairperson of the Music Department of St. Andrew’s Priory School for Girls.  I have served as a Repertoire & Standards Committee chairperson on Women’s Choirs and co-chaired All-State High School Honor Choir Festivals for the Hawai’i Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association.  I maintain my performing career with Hawaii Opera Theater’s Opera Chorus, Kawaiolaonapukanileo (Hawaiian a cappella vocal ensemble), and the dance company of Halau Hula Ka No’eau.   In addition to teaching and performing, I’ve also produced Na Hoku Hanohano (Hawaiian Grammy Awards) award-winning records of Hawaiian music.

NO FEAR! My goal is to grow people that are not afraid of music - to sing, dance, and approach an instrument with confidence. I want children to have a positive, joyful experience with music so that music becomes a form of expression and voice that they can carry throughout their lives.
