My Philosophy

Being part of a "community of learners" where teachers, administrators, students, anyone can collaborate and share and learn from each other. I created My eCoach to harness the power of the Internet to make a learning community where everyone shares ideas and resources and helps each other so they do not reinvent the wheel over and over again. My focus has been on "Making Learning Personal" to empower learners to develop agency. Now it's going deeper with defining your WHY.

My Community

The San Francisco Bay Area is a very diverse community with a exciting mixture of ethnic groups, delicious eateries, and lots of things to do. We have the best weather and climate. My eCoach offers anyone an online community where learning and sharing can happen at anytime from anywhere.

My Environment

The My eCoach environment changes often where groups start their own communities for their school, district, online courses, church groups, cancer support groups, book clubs, movie clubs, and almost anything.

My Roles and Responsibilities

I write, present, keynote, facilitate workshops, design new materials, and coach individuals and groups to help Define Your WHY.. I blog on my website, Rethinking Learning and host my podcast, Conversations on Learning. I also co-host the #rethink_learning Twitter chat every other Monday 4p PT, 7p ET.

My Philosophy
What's better than working with teachers and students?  Nothing!  I can't believe it's been thirty years since I first walked in a classroom.  The years have gone by in a flash.  I love that first-day-of-school excitement in September (well, August) and I don't believe there is anything better than the anticipation of a new school year and the possibilities it brings.  Teachers are the best people in the world.  Keep on keeping on, you all!

My Community
I have spent the better part of the past 30-years as an in-class teacher and administrator, having served at three different schools.  I believe my professional experiences give me a distinct insight into the needs of both students and teachers.

As a teacher, I have used project-based learning and inquiry-based curriculum to help prepare students for future success.  As an administrator, I have been actively involved in aligning curriculum to state standards, as well as in mentoring teachers in lesson planning and classroom management.  I was instrumental in establishing and maintaining the computer lab used by students and teachers to further their computer literacy.  I also worked to convert the school yearbook from paper to digital.  I have implemented a wide variety of in-school programs that range from student performance to environmental awareness.

In the years I have been an educator, I have had the good fortune of working with a community of dedicated professionals.  I hope to continue my involvement in education helping teachers to catch the technology bug, whether in digital and video editing or creating lessons online.
