My Philosophy
Education is essential to the development of each learner. Education opens doors and provides opportunities to achieve greatness. An educator’s responsibility is to unlock that door and map out a clear path for students. To set that path, it is important to create an environment where students become enthusiastic about learning and understanding the subject matter and consequently integrate the content into their way of thinking. To achieve this I use a variety of methods such as small group instruction, pair and share, role playing and more. I use data to gain an insight into my students’ abilities, target areas of need and capitalize on their strengths. My role as an educator is to facilitate instruction and guide my students through the learning process using resources. To achieve this I keep current with teaching strategies, issues and trends. I see myself as a lifelong learner in the ever evolving field of education and plan to continue devoting time to learning in order to improve the quality of my teaching.

My Community I work in a Title I school in Miami Dade. The majority of my school's population is of Hispanic background. Many of the students are second language learners. I feel that vocabulary exposure is important for these students. I expose my first graders to a rich print environment. | |||||||||
My Roles and Responsibilities I am a first grade teacher. In 2009, I achieved National Board certification in Elementary Literacy.
