The San Diego County 4-H poultry project is open to all 4-H youth from ages 5 to 19. Participants in this project have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of avian science including but not limited to small flock management, poultry health, raising chickens for meat or eggs, poultry exhibition, poultry showmanship and embryology. Poultry can include chickens, turkeys and waterfowl.
Throughout the 4-H year, youth members will have the opportunity to learn and demonstrate their knowledge by participating in field days, fairs and avian knowledge bowls. It is expected that all 4-H youth in the poultry project keep a record book to submit at the end of the year in order to document and receive recognition for their achievements in their project.
The goal of this site is to provide leaders, parents and 4-H youth with resources and information in order to assist them in their poultry projects.
