Welcome to the parent corner of this website. This website is designed to support your children as they learn about a critical moment in the history of the United States: the Civil War.

In order for them to be successful in this unit of study, it is important that your children be provided the opportunities to utilize technology. The class survey I conducted recently has provided me with information that will allow me to accommodate students individual needs to ensure that all students have access to this online tool. I will provide student’s the opportunity before, during (when appropriate), and after school, to use the class’ computers in order to achieve the learning goals of this unit.

My ultimate goal for my students this school year is clear. I want to help my students learn to use technology as a tool to enhance their ability to both learn and produce assignments that exemplify progress towards achieving 21st Century Skills.

This site is my effort to awaken, promote, and establish these skills for all my students. With your support, this can be accomplished. By reading this portion of the site, you have already taken the first step at helping me to achieve this goal.

I encourage you to participate, to whatever capacity, in your child’s learning experience as they use this and other electronic resources necessary to be successful in this unit. Encourage your children to conduct research above and beyond a given assignment’s requirements. If you have experience in using computers, share them with your child so that they can find ways of applying that knowledge for their own academic achievement. Allow them the opportunity to show you what they can do as they develop an understanding of both the unit concepts and technology use.

Finally, I ask that you assist me in providing a safe internet-filled experience for your children. Ensure that your child stays on task when using the computer for this course. I have designed this site as the nucleus of the learning experience. What student’s can access from this site leads to material that is appropriate for them.
