Students were put into groups of 5-6 chosen by the teacher. They were to choose an editor and an assistant editor and then they were to choose which topic they were going to research and write about (1 topic per student was mandatory). During this time we had a discussion of what the job of the editor was to entail. Topic choices were:
After their note taking was completed, they were to type their work, and to make it newspaper size, they were to cut and paste their articles and pictures onto large 12 x 18 size paper. NOTE: The editor had an important job, and for the most part, they were the ones who seemed to have the most work to do. Many groups worked outside of the classroom to finish their project.
